If you have an old car that doesn't run, chances are good that it is just taking up much-needed space in your garage or is an eyesore on your property.  You might not think that anyone will want a car that doesn't run, but you actually have a few options for getting rid of it. These are a few different options that you can look into.

1. Donate It

There are a lot of people out there who need a car but who can't afford to buy one, such as economically disadvantaged single parents. Luckily, there are charities out there that help these individuals get the cars that they need. These organizations often accept donations, and some even accept cars that do not run. If you think, "I should donate my car," it can be a good way to get rid of a car that you no longer need, plus you can feel good about helping someone out. Your donation might even be tax deductible.

2. Sell it to a Junk Yard

Another option for getting rid of a junk car is to sell it to a junk yard. Many junk yards will pay you cash money on the spot for your car, so even if the car isn't running, this is a good option for getting a little bit of money for it. Many junk yards base the amount off of the weight of the car.

3. Sell As-Is

Many people don't even think about putting their cars up for sale when they aren't running since they might think that no one wants to buy them. However, someone who is handy with tools and who is good at working on cars might buy your non-running car for a lower price. Some people like to fix up old cars, while others use them for parts for other cars that they might be working on. You obviously probably won't get as much for your car as you would if it were in good running condition, but you might be surprised by how many calls you get if you price it low and advertise it.

Having an old car that doesn't run in your garage or driveway can be a big pain. Luckily, though you have a few different options for getting rid of your car, so consider looking into these three options. If you do, you just might find that getting rid of your old car is easier than you thought it might be.
